Green Building Insider has begun publishing a monthly "Upcoming News" column that is designed to help readers keep track of what will be happening in the green building community. Beginning with this issue, the exclusive column will provide an updated list of key developments -- such as the release of new green building standards and requests for federal funding of green construction activities -- that are scheduled to take place over the next several years. Brief descriptions of these developments, as well as references to the most recently published GBI articles relating to them, will be conveniently categorized according to the months in which the developments are expected to occur.

Also in this edition of GBI, the new Fourth Annual Green Building Survey by Allen Matkins, Constructive Technologies, and GBI indicates declining support for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification; the Sustainable Forestry Initiative has blasted the United States Green Building Council's forest certification policy; there are several newly proposed addenda to Standard 189.1 on green buildings that are open for comment; the National Renewable Energy Laboratory soon will open a facility that is expected to serve as a model for daylighting and energy-efficient construction; the Country Living Green Modular Home Collection leads off our coverage of several new developments involving LEED; and a major rooftop solar project soon will be installed atop a slew of buildings in Oregon.
