A general contractors group has bolstered its support for green construction in buildings and infrastructure. For the first time, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGCA) has "articulated a very specific action plan" for promoting green buildings through various local, state, and federal policy initiatives, AGCA spokesperson Brian Turmail told Green Building Insider. The larger community of green building advocates should welcome ACGA's efforts as dozens of the organization's members late last month journeyed to Capitol Hill in part to push for the plan's adoption. More details about AGCA's strategy for promoting the plan are included in this edition of GBI.

Also in this issue, the U.S. Green Building Council plans to launch several initiatives this year to promote green construction nationwide, a new report examines the cost of implementing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for New Construction rating system, the U.S. Department of Energy has announced some new opportunities through its Commercial Building Partnerships initiative, GBI profiles legislative developments in five states, a homebuilder resolves alleged stormwater runoff violations, and there are several new LEED certifications to report.
